ACE OF WANDS

Epiphany

To the South, a spark ignites the magic wand standing ready in the forest. The shamans gathered on a mountaintop nearby know their call has been answered. One by one, they release their spirits and fly to the flames. To the flames! where they circle again around the sacred burning staff. Before the alchemical fire they flail and dance, melding the sexual embrace of the body with the driving force of the creative mind.

In the card the Ace of Wands blasts a hole through the humdrums of normality. It invites us to step into the fire and passion that created the universe. The wand sizzles and shoots flames transforming everything around it into molten and fluid possibility. Fire destroys, but it prepares the ground for regeneration and new beginnings. The wand's flaming eye, encircled by a Tibetan mandala, is the cosmic mystery peering through the purifying aspect of fire. Together the eye and the mandala represent the unity we experience during those precious spiritual moments when we see that everything is so intimately connected as to be aspects of a singular being. Wands are this epiphany as it is experienced through creativity and sexuality. The snake of our rising power climbs the wand as if it were our spine. Or. its way up it burns through our blocks to passionate creativity and opens us to the potential of transformative experiences.
